El Panchon, Mexico

A quick one because it’s past midnight, but I’m in a hammock watching a tropical thunder-storm over the jungle and all’s right with the world.

We’ve spent the day on a long distance bus and checked in this afternoon to the cheapest accommodation of the trip so far. We were skeptical, but it’s beautiful: a little cabana with triangular doors that open out onto hammocks and then the jungle. Bliss.

For the evening we headed to El Panchon, the traveller’s hangout for vegetarian pizza, Columbian music, Corona’s, tequila and fire twirling.

And now, as Chaac, the rain god blesses the earth again, I thought I’d share my little slice of love, peace and world harmony with you.

  1. That is an awesome photo. We attended a fire twirling display in a small town near Iguazu Falls and it was so good we were tempted to buy the video they sold afterwards. Luckily we were broke at the time, but the memory lingers.
