Watching the Mets score the only run of the game in the 10th innings against the Pirates.

This minute was made even better by the fact that we had been given free tickets by a friendly couple outside the stadium and later had been allowed to move down to sit field-side.

I’m not a baseball fan (or indeed much of a sports fan) but I love the Met’s retro-cool outfits: instant nostalgia.

And for those who can’t get enough involved in the proceedings, the “Kiss Cam” is only the beginning of the possibilities: there are steak-house vouchers to be won, gift baskets to be given away, t-shirts shot into the crowd, there’s a fan to kick off proceedings, one to try his or her hand at pitching, and one to bat a ball off a tee at half time, you can vote via your mobile phone for “song of the match”, wave your hands in the air for the half-time warm up, spin the wheel to win a prize from the merchandise stand, choose a prize from three plastic tool cases… the game itself is barely more than a side show.
