This morning (before taking the train back to Oslo) we climbed Mt Ulriken, (the highest of the seven mountains that surround Bergen) and, not being in the best shape, I record this as a triumph and also as a testament to the travelers’ knack for being in the right place at the right time. We arrived at the top and after a quick very-late-season snowball fight we were just settling down to a cup of tea when we found ourselves with front row seats to an intimate outdoor experimental jazz concert given as part of the Bergen International Festival – brilliant: live music, sunshine, an amazing view and best of all (for me): a funicular ride back down the mountain!

Old Norwegian saying, according to Mr K (sans faux-Norwegian accent): The less you drop, the less you have to pick up.
